FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you want to know something about our services, or are you stuck at some point? Here are our Frequently Asked Questions that might help you with your problem.

Tripany spamfilter? Explained here..
Our customers have asked us several times wheter its possible to install a spamfilter on our server. At first Tripany didn't want to install a spamfilter, because there is always a chance of deleting emails that aren't spam. But due to the recent explosion of spam-emails lately, we have installed a spamfilter which is very selective concerning labelling an email as spam. Therefor that chance that a normal email message is labelled as spam is 0.03%.

These emails are easy to recognize because the spamfilter adds the following text **Tripany says: SPAM** to the subject of the suspected email. Therefor its easy for you to create rules in your email program for processing these spam-emails.

How can I send and receive email ?

Webmail
At this moment our webmail is unavailable. Its not yet clear if this service will be supported in the near future.

What is a POP/SMTP mailbox ?
With the hosting package that you've ordered POP mailboxes are supplied. That is the server that is responsible for sending and receiving Email. Every POP mailbox can contain an unlimited amount of Email adresses. These are also called 'aliases'. Your Email adresses always end with your domainname. For example: yourname@yourdomain.nl

Settings of your Email programm
POP3 server : pop.yourdomain.nl. This is the server that you should set for all the incoming Email.
SMTP server : smtp.yourInternetprovider.nl. This is the server for you outgoing Email. i.e. smtp.xs4all.nl.

Management
You can set your own username and password in case you didn't receive them with your hosting details. Your alias is the text which is before the '@' sign in your emailaddress, you have received your username / userid and your password with your hosting details. In case you didn't receive them, then you can request them using the website administrator (http://www.yourwebsite.nl/administrator).
Changing a password of a user is done using the pencil icon next to the username. You can also create new users here. If you are unable to solve your problem, please contact Robin Edgar for specific support.

You can manage your POP mailboxes using the site management (www.yourdomain.nl/siteadmin/) tool. You can do this by selecting "User Management" in the menu at the left. Here you will see a list of the current users. The colomn "User Name" is the first part before the '@' sign of the email address. Adding a user can be done by clicking on the "Add User" button.

Email aliasses, auto-responders and more.
You can change an existing user by clicking on the blue enveloppe. Here you can also specify a forwarding Email address, specify Email Aliases and set an auto responder (i.e. Vacation Message). The auto responder will only be active after you have selected it and then select "Save Changes".

What is FTP ?

Uploading files to your website can be done using FTP. FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol, which means that you can copy files to the webserver using the internet. For this you will need a FTP programm. A few examples of ftp programms are LeechFTP, WS-FTP, Flashfxp. You can download a FTP programm from one of these locations: Tucows or cNet

FTP settings
Your FTP address is your domainname without the 'www'. So for example ftp.yourdomain.nl. You've received your username and passwordwith your hosting details. When you login using a FTP programm you are able to copy files. When you will copy files, they won't be visible on your domain right away, but you can view them using visiting http://www.yourdomain.nl/username. To view them directly on you domain, you will have to copy them to the /web/ directory.

Why doesn't my website refresh properly ?

There are multiple causes for your website not to refresh properly and therefor not displaying updates.

You browser might be set to store temporary internet files. Therefor an old version of the website is shown and you won't see recent updates. You can fix this by deleting the temporary internet files or by changing the way your browser treats websites. By changing that you will always see the latest version of your website.

You can achieve this in your browser (for example Internet Explorer) by going to "Tools" (or "Extra") in the menu, and then choose "Internet Options".
At the ´Algemeen´ or ´General´ panel you will see the buttons "Delete Files" en "Clear History" - click on them to do so.

To ensure that you will always see the most recent version of your website click on the button "Settings" (next to "Delete Files") and then select the top selection ("Every visit to the page"). When you press "OK" you will return to your browser. When you hit the "refresh" button (between the ´stop´ and ´home´ buttons - the red circle and the house icon), while holding the <ctrl> button on your keyboard, the recent updates should appear.

But its even possible that after following the steps described above you are still not seeing the latest version of your website. Probably your company then uses a Caching Webproxy Server. This server arranges that when -for example- 200 employees visit http://www.nu.nl this website isn´t downloaded 200 times, but download 1 time and stored on the server. So that the other 199 employees will see that version. Contact your system administrator for more information.

A fast solution is to hold the SHIFT and F5 key when your website is opened (only works in Internet Explorer).

An important part of the communication concerning your website is whether is findable online. This is something special. To make it simple for a relation of Tripany BV like you, we have searched for the specialists in this area. We have found this specialist and we are reseller, but we will maintain to be your contactperson for this service.

We will submit the website - and this company then take care of the submission and the creation of the metatags (Keywords for your subject, service or company the search engine will look for) and we will then place these metatags in your website.

The costs for submitting your website, with your own metatags are:
  • One time for The Netherlands: € 45,00 250 searchengines
  • One time for the EU: € 71,00 500 searchengines
  • One time for the world: € 97,50 700 searchengines
  • For a monthly update € 9,75 a month
  • For a quarterly update, € 9,75 a quarter
The optimalisation of the metatags for specific searchengines (every searchengine is different and specifies its own importance to specific ordering, words etc.) € 884,00 to be guaranteed to appear as high as possible. The costs for this per month per searchengine are :
  • € 58,50 for the 1st place € 28,06 for the 6th place
  • € 55,00 for the 2nd place € 23,40 for the 7th place
  • € 46,80 for the 3rd place € 16,90 for the 8th place

The possible changes per page take 10 minutes, so 12 pages on a hourly rate of € 99,00 will come to € 198,00
Please be aware, that there aren't any guarantees for specific words or searchengines.
But you will receive a professional and up to date advice, so if you will 'just' make it to the 3rd place, you will also have to pay for that place. All prices stated are with tax included.
