Tripany makes advice based wine sales easy!

With its Hardware and Software Instore Media Concept, Tripany has developed a new product for retailers: the Wineselector.

Supermarket and off-licence customers can, through a simple to use touch screen, search for and select wines that suit their taste and complement their meals. The Wineselector is not only a useful aid for the less experienced wine drinker, but also helps experienced customers with selecting wines.

A simple menu enables the customer to slect wine on the basis of country of origin, wine region, wine type, or price. The Wineselector even tells the customer where the wine they selected can be found in the shop.

After selecting a wine, the customer sees an image of the wine bottle and a short description of the wine including a description of the taste, the grape, and what foods the wine complements. The Wineselector can also highlight special offers or wines being promoted.

The Foodstore in Dalen is a user of the Wineselector. Mr Kalkdijk, owner of the Foodstore, opted to purchase the Wineselector to meet his customers' demand for good advice on wine that went beyond the knowledge of the sales staff. He explains, "The Wineselector is exactly what we needed. It is not only useful for our customers, but our sales staff can now also better advise our customers. Since introducing the Wineselector, we have seen our wine sales, and particularly those in the higher price classes, increase greatly."
